Hey! I’m Pooja Nambiar and I’m planning to attend Case Western Reserve University as part of an 8-year combined medical program, majoring in biochemistry or neuroscience. In high school, I was a part of the tennis team, Science Olympiad, FBLA, Red Cross Club, and more. 



Johns Hopkins University

Hello, my name is Omar Aly, and I am a rising junior at Johns Hopkins University, currently studying Behavioral Biology and Economics with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I live in Potomac, Maryland, and am originally from Egypt. In my spare time, I like to play sports (mainly soccer) and explore nature. I am highly interested in neuroeconomics, branding, tech, product development, and other bridges to science and business strategies.





Hi everyone! I am Abhi, a 2nd year student at the TCNJ/NJMS 7-year medical program. At the end of this year, I will be graduating with a BA in Biology and spending a 3rd year pursuing other academic interests of mine, including data science and statistics, before entering medical school. At TCNJ, I am involved in a number of organizations including Ambassadors, debate, and some cultural clubs. Currently, I am also working part time as a clinical researcher at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in radiology and cardiovascular imaging. In my freetime I learn new skills including juggling and piano.

My name is Jeewoo Choi. I am a student at Stanford University pursuing a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in computer science. I am currently the social chair of KSA, and I enjoy part timing at local startups and playing in the LSJUMB. In my free time I love watching anime, browsing memes, and skateboarding.

Hi! My name Sol Lee, and I am a rising junior at the University of Maryland majoring in Medical Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology. I am also on the premed track in which I am aspiring to be a forensic pathologist! On campus, I am part of Honors Humanities, create graphic designs for SGA, and serve as the Anthropology Rep for the BSOS Dean's Student Advisory Council. Off campus, I am heavily involved with the Smithsonian Museums as a docent for the NMNH Outbreak Exhibit and an upcoming Invertebrate Collections intern. If you love gardening and aquascaping, we'll be friends in no time!

Hey everyone! My name is Sanketh, and I’m a junior at the University of Maryland: College Park pursuing a dual-degree in Neuroeconomics (an individualized major I am designing) and Neurobiology & Physiology with a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I am also on the pre-med track. Over the last 4 years, I have been very involved with both basic science and clinical research and have published several abstracts and papers. I’m also passionate about social entrepreneurship, and I am currently launching an innovative healthcare-related app startup. Finally, I'm an experienced executive in the education nonprofit industry passionate about bridging the existing gaps in education. I founded STEPS with the goal of transforming the lucrative for-profit education industry into a solution for improving education in low-income communities.

Jessica is a rising junior at the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School Engineering pursuing a degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering on a full Banneker Key Scholarship. She is interested in consulting and applications of nuclear chemistry technology to solving today's energy, environmental, and defense problems. At UMD, Jessica is involved in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Honors Program and will be entering the newest cohort of the prestigious Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) program. She has also conducted trace explosive detection protocol development and research at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. 



University of Maryland

Jesse is a senior undergraduate student at the University of Maryland studying bioinformatics and neuroscience. She's currently a research assistant for the Human Computer Interaction Lab at UMD studying the intersection between person-centered paradigms and social media frameworks for people with dementia under Dr. Amanda Lazar as well as a research assistant for Dr. Sarah Oates studying how we can train AI classifiers to detect Russian propaganda. Her research examines how we can make technology and social systems more accessible for people with disabilities and low-skilled internet users from groups that are minoritized.

Hi! my name is Jake and I'm a rising sophomore at Johns Hopkins University. I'm currently pursuing a double major in molecular & cellular biology and public health with a minor in bioethics. I'm involved in Maryland science olympiad, charm city science league, and blue key society, but besides all the academic stuff, I'm also a huge fan of drinking boba (typical i know), playing hearthstone, and rewatching bojack horseman on netflix.




Duke University

Hey everyone! My name is Dharshan, and I’m a rising freshman at Duke University pursuing a degree in Global Health and Public Policy. I have several interdisciplinary interests in business, epidemiology, and politics. Throughout high school, I was involved in clinical research about deafness and contributed to several cochlear research studies at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I was also involved with Science Olympiad, FBLA, the Science in Society Conference, and South Asian Club. My interests outside of school including tennis, politics, and cooking. As Co-Founder and Board Member, I have been with STEPS since the beginning and am excited to meet all of you!

Hello and welcome to STEPS! My name is Brendan Kim and I'm a junior at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm currently majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in computer science. Some extracurricular activities I been involved in college are the KSA(Korean Student Association) and Penn Electrical Racing, a club in which we build a student-designed electric race car and compete against other teams. Currently, I am working with the team to create one of the first student-made autonomous cars in the United States. Beyond school, I’m a big fan of nature and like to go on hikes. I also enjoy watching sports(NBA, NFL, European Soccer), and playing with my dog Bentley. 


Chase Blanchette

California Institute of Technology

Hello There! My name is Chase Blanchette and I just finished up my sophomore year at Caltech as an electrical engineering major. At school, I'm a member of the Robotics, Quiz Bowl, and Ultimate Frisbee teams. I also build Rube Goldberg machine and domino setups as a hobby, both at home and as exhibits for museums around the country (including a regular domino event at the MD Science Center). I am an avid biker and enjoy going around town.
